![]() He was in the trailers, and gave the impression of a major antagonist, but not the main antagonist.sure he transforms at the end, but his entire character is pretty much exactly what you'd expect seeing the trailer. I don't think Pete is a horrible villain, he has a decent amount of menace and it's a fun concept, but I feel like everyone was both shocked and a little let down that he was the big bad. ![]() It's a fun theory that Judge Doom might be a failed cartoon mascot that's got something personal with Roger Rabbit for upstaging him as the big star though nothing else really supports this.Īnyway and then we get to what might be the closest sequel to Roger Rabbit, the newly released Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, and how bizarrely tepid its villain feels in comparison. The poster is even focused on when Eddie sees Judge's Doom gun reflected in the window as he shoots Maroon, lining up with the poster of Possum who wields the exact gun. Maroon's studio, there's a cartoon poster of Pistol Packing Possum, who has the same red eyes as Judge Doom. Or the one who shot Bambi's mom, as the original idea apparently was.though unsure if that was that he shot her for real, or merely his character played that role in Bambi and then became actually evil.īut, in R.K. In the film proper, we never learn what toon he exactly was, though extended material such as a comic explain he was an actor who suffered head trauma leading him to believe he was the villains he played in cartoons. ![]() I'm also in love with the theory about him being Pistol Packing Possum. Especially looking it over and realizing there's a lot of interesting little bits of Christopher Lloyd's performance that hints towards this such as him never blinking, having immaculate white teeth, abiding by "cartoon logic" in certain scenes, and his cape fluttering in the wind even while indoors. Watched Roger Rabbit for the first time in.two decades?.last night on Disney+, and the whole film is still pretty magical.īut what makes it an A+ movie in my opinion is Judge Doom, both as a human and as the maniacal toon in the ending. ![]()
